For smaller production runs, DTG offers tremendous advantages over silk screen printing. That’s because silk screening involves long set-up times and complicated art preparation. Also, with silk screening you cannot reproduce a photograph on a garment. And most important, silk screening can be prohibitively expensive.
DTG is different from silk screening because it brings a world of ease, efficiency and affordability to those who want to print limited quantities of custom t-shirt designs. There’s no minimum order. You can print 100 novelty tee-shirts, or 10, or even just one!
DTG printing is done on an ink jet printer that prints right onto your t-shirts and sweat shirts. The set-up time is very fast and you can print your favorite photos, designs or words right onto the garment. The cost is surprisingly affordable because the process is so quick and easy. Make your own t-shirt right here, right now. Just go to our Online T-Shirt Design Studio. Just keep these points in mind regarding the DTG process:
You can put graphics anywhere on the t-shirt’s 16 x 20 area. In general, however, it’s usually better to place your message higher.

Digital Heat Transfer
Digital heat transfer is a method of using special paper with a treatment of emulsions which allow a printer to print on a sheet and with a heat press, the image gets transferred to the material placed against it. Usually used on cottons. The image is durable and washable, but usually dulls color after a good amount of washes. It is different than an iron on as the emulsion is a higher grade and the inks are usually designed for this method of printing.
Sublimation
Sublimation is similar to digital heat press in that it printed using a printer on a sheet then heat pressed. The difference is that the ink if formulated to be transferred on polyesters and during the heat process the ink is turned into a gas then hardens inside polyesters fibers making for a great and bright image on the garment. Usually among the best image quality among the options The Art of Tees offers. But the print can not be transferred to cotton. So it is a little limiting, especially if you do not like polyesters. The image is in the material so you should not feel any print on the garment at all.
